Annapurna Circuit Day 8 (9 and 10)

Upper Pisang to Manang

So after some deliberation we decided to take the lower route to Manang.  "It will be easier", we thought.  Well, when the afternoon sun melts all of the snow (and the ground underneath) it makes for the worst, stickiest, deepest mud ever.  And that's what our path was for almost 5 hours.  We were overjoyed when we finally arrived in Manang, which really seems like the gateway to the Himalayas in this area.  And its location on a little plateau make for some great views!  Because of the altitude, trekkers are recommended to stay here for 2 nights.  Us being from Charleston, SC...we decided to play it safe and stay 3!  We found a great lodge, had a yak burger and yak steak (YUM! by the way) and though we didn't know it at the time, had our last shower for 4 days.  Solar showers do not work so well when the air is too cold to unfreeze the pipes!
