Taj Mahal and Final Thoughts

India, we have found, is a land of contradictions.  The monuments, tombs, palaces and forts have been some of the best sites we've seen so far on our trip.  The cities, however, leave a lot to be desired.  It's a hectic country and the never ending sound of cars honking (WAY too loudly) will frustrate anyone.  Poverty is an ever present sight throughout the country and it's disheartening to see that in a country with one of the worlds largest economies (in the top 10 based on output) at least one third of it's people live on less than $1.25 per day.  P.s: India's population is now only130 million less than China's- not a lot when you consider each has over 1.2 billion people!
Here is an interesting page that highlights some statistics about India:

In any case, we have had quite the experience on our India adventure and the Taj Mahal was definitely a highlight....it's soooo much better in person.  While in the northern city Amritsar, the Sikh capital of India, we went to the end of day border ceremony on the Indian/Pakistan border.  While more a show than anything serious, it was still fun to see!  There is so much we could say about India so if you have any specific questions, please email us at ashleymoore934@gmail.com

PS We never really got sick....just some slight stomach issues near the end!

  2. Bravo or congratulations for these very nice photos and such a high jump. A little more training or a better photographer would show the athlete ACTUALLY JUMPED HIGHER higher than the Taj Mahal ? You can select the easiest solution to this difficult problem???
Happy to see Chantal. I prefer the natural colors!
See you all in the near future

    1. Antoine,
Next time, I will make sure Derek gets a better angle that best highlights my jumping abilities! We were so happy to travel with Chantal for several weeks. The three of us had a wonderful time together! We will see you all in just a few months.
      Love,
      Derek and Ashley
